Very. Exciting. Moment.
Wednesday, November 14th, 2007Last week Manny Hernandez gave us a huge gift; our first book review - thank you Manny!
One of the reasons we are particularly excited about this review is that it comes from someone who has an amazing gift for Web design.
In early 2007, Manny founded TuDiabetes, an online community where people can help one another, and share stories about all things diabetes.
He chose the platform Ning, brainchild of Marc Andreessen and Gina Bianchini, a site that gives anyone with basic computer skills the opportunity to create their own online social network.
One of the coolest things Manny included was a forum in Spanish; allowing members to chat in the language they are most comfortable with.
This is an example of great Web design; an example others should pay particular attention to. Conversion, be it buying the $1000 television, or getting people to join a network, is directly influenced by the design of your site. In this case, by offering the site bilingually, Manny has given Spanish speaking diabetics a place to have their voice heard; a place they otherwise may have bypassed.
Is it any wonder then, that TuDiabetes was one of the three Ning networks spotlighted in Marc Andreessen’s Open Social: Screencast and Screenshots post.
Manny is also one of Amazon’s top 100 reviewers, so we kinda figure if he likes our book, it must be pretty great!
Big - HUGE - thanks to Manny.
